As much as we’d like to stop talking about Antonio Brown, the former Steelers wide receiver simply can’t get out of his own way. The newest buzz on A.B. is not just negative, it’s downright UGLY.
By now unless you are living in a cave, you have heard the allegations from Antonio Brown’s ex-trainer who says the NFL star raped her in May of 2018. The immediate reaction by most will be why didn’t she contact the police? In most rape cases, the victims will keep their identity secret but not in this instance. Britney Taylor is the woman on the spot and with her lawyer has filed a federal lawsuit against Antonio Brown.
I am a strong believer in “where there’s smoke…there’s fire.” In other words, if an accusation like this is made, most times there MUST be some truth to it. I’m not saying the rape allegations are true, that has yet to be determined. However, through Brown’s lawyer, the two are admitting there was sexual contact between Taylor and Brown BUT it was consensual. Brown’s lawyer is Darren Heitner who released this statement:
“Mr. Brown denies each and every allegation in the lawsuit. He will pursue all legal remedies to not only clear his name, but to also protect other professional athletes against false accusations.”
As they expected Brown to be on the field and in practice today, the New England Patriots went out and traded Demaryius Thomas to the New York Jets and in return New England gets a sixth round pick in the 2021 draft. But the problem now for the Pats is that the National Football League may place Antonio Brown on the Commissioner’s Exempt List which would sideline A.B. until the matter at hand is resolved. The word in the media is that the NFL is giving serious though to the exception list for Brown.
According to Taylor’s lawsuit, she claims Brown sexually assaulted her twice in 2017. In one instance according to her accusations, A.B. exposed himself and planted an unwanted kiss on Taylor. Following that, he is accused of masturbating onto her back. If that isn’t enough to sicken you, then he went on social media to brag about his actions from his second incident. Reportedly, Taylor cut professional ties with Brown after that but went back to work for Brown after he assured her there would be no other attempts to conduct himself in that manner.
But last May (2018), Taylor indicates A.B. “forcibly” raped her. Her statement read as such:
“As a rape victim of Antonio Brown, deciding to speak out has been an incredibly difficult decision. I have found strength in my faith, my family, and from the accounts of other survivors of sexual assault.”
Now…whether Brown actually assaulted Taylor in any fashion only those two know the truth. Regardless, even if he is innocent, Antonio Brown is a downright SCUMBAG. Anyone who would send out the messages I share with you below on social media, using this verbiage, is not just COMPLETELY unprofessional but DISGUSTING. Low character, scum, jerk, asshole, call him what you want, who would want this piece of garbage playing on his team no matter who talented he is.
I just can’t see Bill Belichick putting up with even ONE incident from Antonio Brown and it would shock me if A.B. pulls another stupid stunt or act or says something ridiculous and Belichick keeps him around. Just hold on to your seats because I for one do not believe Brown makes it through the end of the season with New England. He’s not all the sudden going to become some “choir boy.”
One final thought on this A.B. mess. It seems a little peculiar to me that these allegations are coming out now. First of all, it makes news just AFTER Brown signs with New England. Why in fact did Taylor not report this to the police when it supposedly happened? Part of me thinks she was set up to make these allegations in order to sabotage Antonio Brown’s actions of pretending he wanted to play for the Oakland Raiders then purposely working his release from the team just to be able to sign with the Patriots. Things that make you go hmmm…
My Pittsburgh Steelers preview and week two picks are up on the NFL 2019 Previews and Picks page this after I went .500 (8-8) on the opening day selections.
